HC scraps writ against result of MBBS admission test

Shawdesh Desk:

The High Court (HC) on Thursday rejected with observation a writ petition filed seeking cancellation of the “faulty results” of the MBBS admission test for the 2020-2021 academic year.

A High Court division virtual bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Sardar Md Rashed Jahangir passed the order, asking the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME) to dispose of within seven days of filing of any application regarding the fault in admission test result, in its observation.

Supreme Court lawyer Mohammad Humayun Kabir Pallab filed and moved the petition on behalf of 324 admission seekers, while Additional Attorney General Mohammad Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury and Deputy Attorney General Bipul Baghmar were present for the state.

According to the rules of admission test published by the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME) on February 7, if a candidate participates in the admission test for the second time while being enrolled in a medical college, 7.5 marks will be deducted from his total marks. If a candidate appears in the admission test after a delay of one year after passing the HSC exam, 5 marks will be deducted.

But the result published on April 4 showed that this rule was not followed in the case of many candidates.
